Strathbogie gimmers are shining stars at Carlisle

A brace of gimmers from the Strathbogie flock of Jim Innes were the shining lights at the Christmas Stars sale of in-lamb Texel gimmers on Saturday (2 December).

Topping the trade which saw the Innes sell 13 gimmers to level at more than £3500 was a gimmer by Glenside Wild Boy and out of a dam by Scholars Twenty Twelve. This one, IJS1600671 is ET bred and is out of a maternal sister to Strathbogie Smokey Blue. She sold in-lamb to the 42,000gns Mullan Armani and sold to Charlie Boden for the Sportsmans flock, Stockport.

Mr Boden then paid 12,000gns for the day’s second top priced lot, again from the Strathbogie pen. This was IJS1600706. An ET bred daughter of Millars Windbrook she is out of a dam by Clinterty Par One and again sold having been served by Mullan Armani. Her dam is also dam to a 22,000gns gimmer sold previously to Edward Pugh.

The next two top prices saw Mr Boden recoup some of his earlier investment, selling two at 8000gns. The first was BGS1602172, a Mellor Vale Wildcat daughter out of a Tullylagan Tonka daughter and going back to Baltier Panther. She sold having been served by the 70,000gns Teiglum Young Gun and joined Robert Evans’ Hope Valley flock, Shrewsbury.

Also at 8000gns and heading back to Shrewsbury with Mr Evans was BGS1602163 an ET bred Strathbogie Whiplash daughter out of a dam by Cairnam Talisman. Going back to Muiresk Northern Dancer she was offered in-lamb to Deveronvale Aerostar.

A further two then sold at 7000gns, with the first of these coming from Graham Morrison’s Deveronvale flock. This was MGV1600921, a daughter of Millar’s Windbrook out of a dam by Glenside Razzle Dazzle and in-lamb to Mullan Armani. She sold to Sandy Lee for the Fordafourie flock, Fraserburgh, Aberdeenshire.

Second to make 7000gns was Robert Cockburn’s best from the Knap flock, CKP1600786. She’s by the 145,000gns Knap Vicious Sid and out of a dam by Ettick Rainbow Warrior. This one sold in-lamb to 32,000gns Mullan Amigo and was knocked down to Robert Bennett, Meifod, Powys.

Next came a 6000gns call for another from the Deveronvale consignment of Graham Morrison. This was MGV1600934, a twin born daughter of Millar’s Windbrook out of a dam by Strathbogie Terminator and in-lamb to Glenside Willie Winkie. She sold to the McCollam family, Crumlin, Co Antrim.

Also making this money was the best of the sale from Robbie Wilson’s Milnbank pen. This was LYM1602310, a gimmer by Glenside Valhalla out of a ewe by Teiglum Tornado. She was offered having been served by Strathbogie Yes Sir and was the pick of Jemma Green, Garmouth, Fochabers.

Selling at 5000gns was another of the Deveronvale pen, MGV1600964. She’s another by Millar’s Windbrook and is out of a Glenside Razzle Dazzle dam. This one is in-lamb to Greenstar Alfie and was taken by Skelbister Farms, Orphir, Orkney.

The Campbell family’s Cowal flock sold its best at this price too, with the being CKC1607760, an ET bred daughter of Glenside Willie Winkie out of a dam by Tullylagan Tonka and in-lamb to Plasucha All Star. Sh sold with an inex of 373 and found a new home with John Forsyth’s Glenside flock, Maybole, Ayrshire.

Mr Forsyth took the same money for his best sale of the day when Alistair Beaton, Slamannan, Falkirk, bought FPG161601267. Sired by Hexel Wild Bill she is out of a dam by Mellor Vale The One and goes back to the noted Strathbogie Python. She sold carrying to this year’s Lanark topper, Sportsmans A Star.

Robert Cockburn then took 4000gns for CKP1600830. Sired by Ettrick Van Gogh she is out of a dam by Milnbank Sound Investment. In-lamb to Mullan Amigo she was the choice of Gordon Gray for the Ettrick flock, Selkirk.
