Skipton in-lamb sale tops at 1300gns

Top call at Saturday’s Northern Area Texel Club in-lamb sale was a bid of 1300gns for the pre-sale champion from Spiros Spyrou’s Gib Farm flock.

The sale leader, a gimmer by the 4500gns Deveronvale Superb is from the most consistent female line in the flock, with the title winner, scanned in-lamb to Anglezarke Uno, sold to R N Kirby and Son, Northallerton. Backing up this sale leading performance were other gimmers from the Gib Farm consignment at 950gns and 800gns.

Meanwhile, the reserve champion from Procters Farm, Slaidburn, was a gimmer by the £40,000 Scholars Twenty Twelve sold in-lamb with twins to Tophill Union Jack. She sold for 750gns to R and D Waggett, of Richmond. The Procters flock then sold aged ewes to 500gns.

And a gimmer from John and Linda Mellin, Hull House then traded at 650gns, with this being a Sportsmans Terrific daughter, sold in-lamb to Langside Thunderbird, which joined Anne Blythman, Bishopton, Co Durham.

Selling at 550gns was a gimmer from Mark Keighley and family’s Manderlea flock, with this being a daughter of Nunstainton Undercover and in lamb to Manderlea Viscount. She sold to A J Chapman, Driffield.

Averages; gimmers £387, aged ewes £311, ewe lambs £208 (Craven Cattle Markets).
