Top call of 2,000gns at Ruthin sale

The Ruthin Texel Breeders Club sale at Ruthin Market on Monday 10th September saw a top price of 2000gns paid for a Millar’s Outstanding son from the Seisiog flock of Llion W Jones.

This was Seisiog Terminator, a ram lamb out of a homebred dam by Stainton Niffy. This one sold to Ballyglonney flock of Messrs Creer, Isle of Man.

Next best price of the day was an 1800gns call for another of the ram lambs, Hen Gapel Tyson II from John Llewelyn Owen. This Humeston Rarity son is out of Clinterty Number One and sold to Gerwaint Jones for the Erw flock, Corwen.

And then at 1600gns was the champion from the pre-sale show, a shearling ewe, THB1100315, from the Thomas family’s Bryn Garth flock. This gimmer is by Derryvore Ranger and out of a dam by Annan Jewel and sold to John Llewelyn Owen for the Hen Gapel flock, Holyhead.

Following her at 1150gns was a shearling tup from the Thomas’ flock, Bryn Garth Sandstone. This son of homebred sire Bryn Garth Peter is out of a dam by Bryn Garth Lord Lily and was knocked down to M L Thomas, Llanwrst.

Making 950gns was another Bryn Garth flock mate, another shearling ewe, THB1100379. Sired by Derryvore Ranger again she is out of a dam by Bartonhall Kiwi and was snapped up by William McCaffrey for the Scholars flock, Malpas.

Averages: 208 ram lambs £368.11, 169 shearling rams £496.86, 37 shearling ewes £404.39 one aged ram £504
