Lanark Select Seven Gimmers – 2012

Select Seven Gimmers Sell to 11,000gns

Saturday’s (8 December) Select Seven Texel gimmer sale at Lanark saw a strong trade throughout the offering, with the Ettrick and Tima flocks of the Gray family commanding the pick of the prices.

Leading the prices was a gimmer from Gordon Gray’s Ettrick flock, Selkirk, at 11,000gns.

Ettrick Spice Girl – 11,000gns

Mr Gray’s sale topper was GGH1101087, ‘Ettrick Spice Girl’. This twin born daughter of 6000gns tup Knock Reebok is out of a dam by Knock Firefly and sold in-lamb to Gordon Gray’s 2000gns Ballymena purchase, Blue Gates Top Gun. Securing the final bid for her was Jeff Aiken for Procters Farm, Clitheroe.

CJN1100821 – 8500gns

The Clark family’s Garngour flock, Lanark, then secured 8500gns for their best and their first in the ring, with this being, CJN1100821. This daughter of Clinterty Romeo is out of a dam by Hexel Lexus and was offered sold in-lamb to 3900gns sire Eastfield Talon and went to Stuart Barclay, Harestone.

Ettrick Ennis
Ettrick Ennis – 7,500gns

The Grays were back in the money after that, taking 7500gns for Ettrick Ennis, GGH1101116. Again by Knock Reebok she was described by Gordon Gray as the best ever offered from Ettrick and is out of a dam by Teiglum Nevada. This one, which is a maternal sister to last year’s 26,000gns Ettrick gimmer, sold to leading Blackface breeders Hugh and Alan Blackwood, Auldhouseburn, Ayrshire, having been served by Knock Papoose.

David, Lisa and Isla Gray’s Tima flock then commanded a bid of 7000gns bid from Charlie Boden, Cheshire. This bid came for GCT 1101263, another daughter of Knock Reebok out of a dam by Castlecairn 007. She was sold in-lamb to Knock Papoose.

And then selling at 5200gns was a Cambwell gimmer from Robert Laird, Lanark, by 18,000gns sire Allanfauld Rockafella. This was LTC 1100620 a gimmer out  of a dam by the noted Cambwell Laird. Sold in-lamb to 5500gns tup lamb Teiglum Tennessee, a full brother to the 60,000gns Lanark topper. Taking her home was Jeff Aiken for Procters Farm.

Another from Ettrick was knocked down at 4800gns, with this being paid for a gimmer by Baltier Rascal I. This was GGH 110122 out of a dam by Tullylagan Keystone. Sold in-lamb to Knock Topaz she went home with Messrs Hamilton.

Following her at 4000gns was the first of the day from John McKerrow’s Grougfoot flock,Boness, MDG 1100205. She is a daughter of 10,000gns tup Glenside Rocket out of a dam by Millar’s Outsmart. This one was taken by Alasdair Beaton, Slamannan, and is in-lamb to 9000gns sire Mellor Vale The One.

Average; 98 gimmers £1291 (Lawrie and Symington).
