Kelso Ram Sales
Texel shearlings were well sought after at Kelso on Friday 14th September, with trade for the very best on offer more than surpassing the shearling trade at the major breed sales this year.
So strong was the Texel trade that the registered Texel shearlings on offer recorded an average nearly 10% above the day’s overall shearling average for all breeds present.
Leading the trade was the Langside pen of Alex and Russel Gray, Lanark, with sales at £14,000, £9,500 and £8000 among others.

The Gray’s topper, which was the top price paid for any tup at Kelso was Brackenridge Strongbow, a Teiglum Rembrandt son out of a dam by Knock Oregano. He sold jointly to Jonathan Watson, Bowsden Moor & Ted Fox, College Texels.
Second best of the day was a shearling from Ted Fox’s pen, College Special, a son of Midlock Pavarotti out of a dam by Stonefieldhill Jenson. He was bought by Stewart and Graham Oliver for the Scrainwood and Duncraig flocks, Wooler.
