Interbreed success at Balmoral for Texel breeders

Texel breeders enjoyed success in the interbreed competitions on the final day of at last week’s Balmoral Show, with the breed champion Jack Gault’s aged ewe, taking the reserve overall interbreed championship under judge Brian Davies, Brecon. This was GCN1401259a two crop ewe by Duncryne Ubercool and out of an Ettrick dam by Knock Papoose.

Also enjoying success was the breed’s group of three, with this trio also standing reserve in the interbreed championship and comprising a shearling ram from John Foster, a shearling ewe from the McCollam family and a ewe lamb from Paul and Baillie O’Connor. This competition was judged by Michael McHugh.

The O’Connors enjoyed further interbreed success, taking first place in the interbreed pair of gimmers class and third place in the interbreed pair of shearling rams class which were judged by Jim Quail.
