Gimmers from the Sportsmans flock took the top two prices at Saturday’s Christmas Stars Sale, Carlisle, with a top call of 15,000gns followed by the day’ssecond best price of 13,000gns resulting in an average of £3857 for 15 gimmers sold from the Boden and Davies consignment.
Taking the best bid of the day was an extra to the catalogue, BGS1501682, an ET bred daughter of the 145,000gns Knap Vicious Sid out of a dam by Milnbank Special One. She sold with a single ET pregnancy as luck and was subject to a flurry of bids before being knocked down to Jim Innes for the Strathbogie flock, Huntly, Aberdeen.
Then at 13,000gns was BGS1501755, another Vicious Sid daughter. This one is ET bred out of a Tullylagan Tonka dam and sold in lamb to the 52,000gns Clinterty Yogi Bear. She was taken by Robert Evans, Hope Valley, Shropshire.
Vicious Sid’s breeder Robert Cockburn was next in the money, taking 12,000gns for a Tamnamoney Tuborg Gold daughter out of a dam by Baltier Rascal I. She was carrying to Clintery Yuag Khan and was knocked down to Keith, Alan and Roy Campbell for their Cowal flock, Lochgoilhead, Argyll.
Another bid at the same level saw Jim Innes recoup some of his earlier outlay when selling his best, IJS1501358. This Aman Vyrnwy daughter is out of a dam by Glenside Razzle Dazzle and sold in-lamb to the homebred Strathbogie Yes Sir. She was bought by Kenny Pratt for the Hilltop flock, Peterculter.
The final five figure bid of the sale came for Robbie Wilson’s best of the day, LYM1501843, a Glenside Valhalla daughter oout of a dam by Teiglum Tornado and in-lamb to Strathbogie Yes Sir. Buying this one was W K Duthie,
Then making 7000gns was another from the same pen, LYM1501800. Sired by Aman Vyrnwy she is out of a Razzel Dazzle daughter and again sold in-lamb to Yes Sir. This one found a new home with C G Paterson, Aberchirder, Huntly.
At the same money was the best of the day from the Campbell family’s Cowal flock, CKC1505869. Sired by the 145,000gns Vicious Sid she’s out of a Tullylagan Tonka dam and sold in-lamb to Strathbogie Your Tupped. She travelled north to Cornhill, Banff, with Graham Morrison.
Just shy of that at 6500gns was another from Robert Cockburn, Knap. This was CKP1500200, a daughter of Tullagh Saracen out of an Ettrick Rainbow Warrior daughter. In-lamb to Clinterty Yuga Khan she sold to Brian Buchan, Fraserburgh.
And at 6000gns was another of the Strathbogie pen, IJS1501266. This Mullan Vivaldi daughter is out of a dam by Glenside Razzle Dazzle and sold in-lamb to Strathbogie Yes Sir, being the choice of J and E Hendry, Auchencairn, Castle
A 5000gns call secured another from Jim Innes, IJS1501312. She’s by Aman Vyrnwy and out of a Razzle Dazzle dam and was sold in-lamb to Glenside Wild Boy. This one sold to the McCollam family, Crumlin, Co Antrim.
