Early NSA Sale – 2013

2013 Early NSA Texel Sale Report – Builth Wells

Back to the venue of the Royal Welsh Show and next in the calendar was the Early NSA Texel Sale where a packed sale ring saw an encouraging trade helped by the recent improvement in lamb prices with an average of £472 and hopefully all looks well for the forthcoming Sales.

Top price of the day went to David Corfield & Partners, Fordwell with their shearling ram – Fordwell Tokyo ‐ CJF1200205, a substitute by the 4,300gns Connachan Rob Roy which was purchased from Worcester out of a Penparc Pinchbeck dam. He was a powerful ram with good muscling and was snapped up by K & J Davies, Cefncoch, Heyhope, Knighton for 1,050gns.

Topping the female trade at the sale was the pre‐sale show 1st prize gimmer from Peacehay, another substitute lot sired by Douganhill Lonestar and out of a dam by the 3,100gns Cennen Magnun. She sold for 400gns and was purchased by J.W & M.C.A Jones, Llandovery of the Divlyn Flock.

The Pre‐sale Show was judged by John Hardwick, Abercrychan and the Championship went to Messrs R & B Smith, Slapton with their homebred shearling ram, Slapton Tonka Toy. This tight skinned ram was sired by the 10,000gns Peacehay Razzle Dazzle, who Slapton purchased a half‐share in at Carlisle and was out of a Cwmithion Petrov dam. Tonka Toy went on to sell for 1,000gns and was purchased by Glyn Thomas of the Onnen Flock.
