The first pedigree Texel sale of the New Year in Northern Ireland, the January Gems Sale, saw John Trimble’s Curley flock take the day’s top price of 2400gns.
The Curley sale leader, TYC1600635, is an ET bred daughter of Orrisdale Viking out of a Hillhead Trademark dam and sold having been served by Cowal Viceroy. She sold to Alistair Bree, Tempo, Co Fermanagh.
Next best at 2000gns was one from James Wilkinson’s Ballygroogan consignment, WVB1600256. Again ET bred she is by Strathbogie Wanted and out of a Humeston Starback dam and was offered in-lamb with twins to Deveronvale Alonso. She was the pick of Michael Cunningham, Bryansford, Newcastle.
Then at 1800gns was the best of the day from the Farmhill pen of Brian Williamson. This was a Springwell Viera daughter, WBO1600135. She is out of a Waen Maradonna daughter and was sold in-lamb to Tullyard Achilles. Buying this one was Malachy Byrne, Ballynagowan, Donegal.
Following that came a 1700gns call for another from James Wilkinson, WVB1600255. This is a full ET sister to his pen leader and sold again in-lamb to Alonso. Taking her home was R J Dunne, Belturbet, Co Cavan.
Close behind at 1600gns was yet another Ballygroogan gimmer, WVB1600280. Sired by Corskie Whopper she is out of a Knock Tyson daughter and was also in-lamb to Alonso with a single. She also headed to Co Cavan with R J Dunne.
After that a 1300gns was WBV1600260. ET bred this gimmer from James Wilkinson is by Strathbogie Wanted and out of a Knock Tyson dam and was another in-lamb to Alonso. She was the pick of P J V Hamilton, Cushenden, Co Antrim.
Three then traded at 1100gns, with the first being another of John Trimble’s TYC1600639. She is a full ET sister to the sale leader and sold carrying to Haddo Yoyo when sold to Robert Walker, Manistercroon, Co Limerick.
Second at this level was one from Adrian Liggett’s Corbo flock, LIG1600419. She’s by Kiltarriff Wannenburg and out of a Clarks Unreal dam. She was sold in-lamb to Bushmills Arnos and was taken by Martin Doherty, Liss Cardonagh, Co Donegal.
And the third and final 1100gns call came for another Curley gimmer, TYC1600602. This ET bred Knock Trident daughter is out of a Mellor Vale The One dam bred in the Glenside flock. She sold in-lamb to Plasucha All Rounder and was knocked down to B and D Dougherty, Kircubbin, Co Down.
Selling for the final four figure call at 1000gns was TYC1600616 from John Trimble. A full ET sister to the last, she sold in-lamb to All Rounder again and was bought by Eileen McSharry, Carney, Co Sligo.
