The annual Christmas Present Sale of Texel females at Worcester for the Gloucester and Border counties Texel Club saw a top call of 1000gns on Saturday, with this price achieved for a gimmer from Jim and Nicola Hartright’s Whitehart flock. This was HWN1401771, a daughter of Broomknowes Tyson and out of a dam by Ellen Valley Nemesis.
This one had been champion in the pre-sale show and sold in-lamb to Loosebeare Voomer, being bought by the judge John Ledbeater for his Northampton-based Blackbird flock.
Second top of the day was an 850gns call for a Meon Springs gimmer from David and Thomas Bradley Farmer. This was DBF1401453, an Oldfield Upperclass daughter out of a Sportsmans dam by Clougher President. She sold carrying to Teilo Vawr and was boght by Steve and Sara Gibbons, Hay on Wye.
Following her at 680gns was the best of the sale from the Quick family’s Loosebeare flock, QEL1404597. Sired by Whitehart Taylor Made she is out of a Loosebeare Priceless daughter and is in-lamb to Milnbank Vorderman. She was the choice of Andy Keedwell, Priddy, Somerset.
A pair then sold at 620gns, with the first being from the Chave family’s Peacehay flock. This was CFP1400935, a Caebetran Trojan daughter out of a dam by Lyonshall King of Clubs and carrying to Clarks Wizard. She was bought by the Park House Flock, Dundry, Bristol.
Second at this level was another from the same home, CFP1400895. This Cennen Magnum daughter is out of a dam by Douganhill Lonestar and sold in lamb to the homebred sire Peacehay Untouchable. Buying this one was M Wright, Crickhowell.
And four then traded at 600gns, with the first of this quartet being from the Loosebeare consignment, QEL140437. She’s by Mossknowe United and out of a Fordafourie Power Pack daughter and sold carrying to Milnbank Vorderman. This one was knocked down to Helen Link and family, Newchurch, Kent.
The next at this price was another from the same home which also sold to the Link family, QEL1404637, a daughter of Loosebeare Titanium out of a dam by Haddo Jogger.
Taking the next 600gns call was another of the Whitehart entry, HWN1401789. She’s by Langside The Gaffer and out of a dam by Broomknowes Lion King. Sold carrying to Loosebeare Ultimo she was bought by G Simmonds, Leominster, Herefordshire.
And the final 600gns bid was made by E J Gwyn, Weston-Super-Mare when buying another Whitehart gimmer, HWN1401762, another by The Gaffer. She’s out of a dam by Humeston River Dance and was sold in-lamb to Loosebeare Ultimo.
Averages; 76 in lamb shearling ewes £429.53, six empty ewe lambs £234.50 (McCartneys).
