The inaugural Derbyshire Diamonds sale of in-lamb Texels and dry ewe lambs saw a near 100% clearance, with 63 for the 64 lots forward finding new homes.
Leading the trade on a day of exceptional demand was a ewe lamb from Ben Vernon’s Charben flock when selling for 3000gns. This was VBC1702565, an ET bred lamb by Sportsmans Wild Thing and out of a Stainton Vigliante dam. She sold to Eamonn Vaughan, Partridge Nest Farm, having been champion in the pre-sale show.
Second best at 1280gns was a gimmer from the Boden family’s Sportsmans pen, BGS1602252. This Mellor Vale Wildcat daughter is out of a Tullylagan Tonka daughter and sold in-lamb to Clinterty Yogi Bear. This one was taken by Ulmas Farm, Washingley, Peterborough.
Two then sold at 1220gns, with the first being a ewe lamb from Procters Farm, Lancashire. This was PFD1701701, a Teiglum Younggun daughter out of a dam by Lllyfni Usain Bolt. She heads to Northern Ireland with P G Blee, Donemana.
At the same money was another Sportsmans gimmer from the Bodens, BGS1602228. This ET bred gimmer is by Strathbogie Whiplash and out of a dam by Cairnam Talisman. She was sold in-lamb to Teiglum Younggun and found a new home with J Hayward, Battersby.
Following that at 1150gns was a gimmer from Procters Farm, PFD1600794. This ET bred gimmer is by Llangwm Wario and out of a dam by Sportsmans Scania. She sold in-lamb to Teiglum Younggun and was the pick of P W and H C Thomas, Ammanford.
Then making 960gns was a recipient carrying an embryo from Ben Vernon. This embryo is by Garngour Alabama and out of a Mellor Vale Wildcat daughter which goes back to Baltier Panther. This one sold to Mike Turner, Okeover.
Another embryo pregnancy from the same home then sold at 900gns, with this one also being by Garngour Alabama and out of a Glenside Valhalla daughter. It was also bought by Mike Turner.
And at the same money was another Charben entry, this time a ewe lamb. This was VBC1702557, a Sportsmans Wild Thing daughter out of a dam by Tullylagan Tonka. She sold to A Jones, Braddey Howell.
Averages; 37 gimmers £491.40, seven ewe lambs £1044.75, five aged ewes £573.30, two embryo pregnancies £976.50 (Leek Auctions).
